BOOKCOVERS: Understanding Current Trends and Their Impact on the Success of Your Book

People often say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but honestly, isn’t that what the cover is for? Book cover design is an art in itself, meant to draw the reader’s eye while conveying a sense of genre, tone, and story. This year, the Kaye Publicity Crew has embraced the following three significant trends in book cover design.

PINK + GREEN
Glinda was right, pink DOES “go good with green!” Though they started gaining traction in 2025, this iconic color combo continues to hold strong this year as well. Each cover uses the colors in different shades and in different ways, but each benefits from the way this vibrant juxtaposition brings the whole cover to life.

FRAMEABLE
Fully illustrated book covers are making a comeback and we love to see it! The small works of art that grace these covers help give readers an immediate sense of the story’s tone, setting the scene before you’ve even read a word. With books this beautiful, you’ll want to set them out on display even after you’ve finished them.

EYE CANDY
You may be eyeing these titles but they’ve got their eye on you too. How thrilling! How eerie! Each cover makes direct eye contact with its reader, inviting them to crack the cover and dive right in, if they dare.
