The next RMMWA monthly meeting will be held October 12, 2023 at the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association (290 Speer Boulevard in Denver) and we’ll also broadcast a live, interactive hybrid meeting via Zoom. Please join us in-person or via Zoom for a talk by ZJ Czupor on marketing your writing.

The meeting at CADA will start at 6:15 p.m. (MDT) with drinks and networking, and dinner will be served at 6:30. Zoom attendees may sign on shortly before 7:00 for the start of the program. See the full agenda below.

Zoom attendance is free and there is no need to register. Members will receive the meeting link via email. Non-members, please send an email to chapterpres@rmmwa.org to request access.

“Your Book is About What?”

A presentation about the sobering news of the publishing industry and what we, as mystery writers, can do to break through the clutter and flotsam of competition. RMMWA member Z.J. Czupor will enlighten us on the trends in today’s publishing world, three ways to succeed in today’s marketplace, how to attract and engage readers, and how to master the things we can control.

Speaker Bio

After 30+ years as a marketing and public relations consultant working with Fortune 500 companies, startups, nonprofits, and local, national, and international news media, ZJ Czupor will bring his marketing experience to bear on what we can best do to market ourselves and our books.

ZJ and his wife, co-founded The InterPro Group, one of Denver’s leading marketing and public relations consulting firms. Prior to starting his own company, ZJ worked as public relations director for two hospitals, a private Jesuit college, a mining company (the division of a Fortune 500 company), and two advertising agencies. He’s held news conferences at The Washington Press Club and placed stories for his clients in The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, CNN, Associated Press, on morning news shows at ABC-TV, The Today Show (NBC), as well as in numerous trade publications, daily newspapers, radio, and television stations.

Z.J. writes mysteries and thrillers as Zoltan James but also writes nonfiction under his own name. He was born in Osterode, Germany to Hungarian parents who immigrated to the U.S. when he was 20-months old. He grew up in Lawrence, Kansas but now lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife and rescue Collie.

He writes from a standup/sit down desk where he also dabbles in short stories, haiku poetry, narrative noir poetry, and nonfiction work about the lives of famous mystery writers.
